South West Highland. Valley of magic through the mountains and site of the 1692 massacre where politics, power, long running tensions and missing cattle all came together in a night whose ghosts are still said to walk the land and whose infamy rests on betrayed hospitality. 21.9 square miles of National Nature Reserve formed from a collapsed super volcano (so if you are hoping for another like it remember the disruption of the building work before you can enjoy it), then reshaped by ice leaving a classic U-shaped glacial valley. The set for multiple blockbuster films in recent years.
