Photograph
Noted for its exceptional mild microclimate despite being so far North this comes from the effect of the Atlantic Gulf Stream. With climate change the Gulf Stream is getting disrupted. Global warming can take away things we know and think of as ours.
Lochinver

Photograph
Largest settlement North of Ullapool and a major fishing port. Lochinver has the sea on one side and the mountains of Assynt Coigach on the other. People have lived in Assynt for over four thousand years. 100 years ago there was talk of a railway to Lochinver but it was never funded or built.
